Ward A

Voting in Ward A
Ward A covers Northwest Edmonton and overlaps with Edmonton city council wards Anirniq and tastawiyiniwak, and is on Treaty 6 territory. Our communities include Griesbach, Castle Downs, Palisades and the post-war neighbourhoods south of 137 Ave.
Anyone who lives in Ward A can vote (whether you have children in school or not—we all benefit from a strong public school system!).
Land Acknowledgement
For nearly 150 years we have been living, working, and growing on this land that is the ancestral and traditional territory of the Cree, the Nakoda Sioux, the Dene, the Saulteaux, as well as the Métis and Inuit who have lived in and cared for these lands for generations. This land is also within the historical Northwest Métis Homeland, which includes the North Saskatchewan River Territory, the Lesser Slave Lake Territory, and the Lower Athabasca Territory.
We are fighting for a strong and robust public education system in Edmonton, and in so doing we also recognize the many ways that education has been weaponized against the most vulnerable members of our communities. As a path forward, reconciliation means the decolonization and Indigenization of our schools. Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders continue to play a vital role in sustaining our communities and shaping our collective future.
